Week 10 "Olympic"

Hello, this is my tenth & last topic! I have written nine topics since today. I am surprised that  I have written such many topics every week!! At 9th topic I wrote about “IAAF World Championships in Athletics” one of the track and field event. It is a very important event for all runners. Today, I'll write about another big event. Of course you know, it is “Olympic”!!

I wrote in my 1st topic “Track and Field said that started in D.C.776. It is ancient first Olympic”. But as a event of the modern Olympic, track and field started at Athens Olympic in 1896 only men, and at Amsterdam Olympic in 1928 also women.  In the old days there were many events that aren't seen today such as the shot put with using both hands, five mails run, standing long jump,4000mSC(do you remember the meaning of SC? If you forget, let's read my 3rd topic!), 60m sprint run. They sounds fun for me but gradually have been changed. Since Melbourne Olympic in 1956 24 events of men have been conducted. I have introduced 21 event in this blog!! (The rests are two walking races and a marathon). The number of events of women is changing yet, 23 events was conducted at Beijing Olympic in 2012.

Because track and field have long history and many event of Olympic, so the number of medals have been awarded is very large. The country gets most medals is United States of America. America has 311 gold medals, 238 silver medals and 189 bronze medals.  The total is 738!! Compere with that, the number of Japanese medalists is 22. 7 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 8 bronze medals. Next, I'll introduce these gold medalist.

1928 Oda Mikio: Triple (man)
1932 Nanbu Tyuuhei: Triple (man)
1936 Tajima Naoto: Triple (man)
Son gijeon: marathon (man)
2000 Takahashi Naoko: marathon (woman)
2004 Murohushi Kouji: hammer (man)
Noguchi Mizuki: marathon (woman)

I am surprised that in old days Japanese men won three gold medals of Triple Jump!! It is because Japanese athletes who specialize in Jumps can't get any medals of Olympics recent day as long as I know. And also won three gold medals of marathon. Marathon called Japaneses “oiegei” that means strong in short!! About Murohushi Kouji I wrote in 5th topic, let's read it again!
It is pity that there is no gold medals of sprint run. But Japanese sprinter gradually become faster that they can compete in the world. Let's watch this video.→

This is the biggest historical event of track and field. At Beijing Olympic in 2008, Japanese 4*100mR team won the bronze medal as a first medalist of Japanese sprinter. That was great thing that win the relay because relay can't win only one runner's power!!

Today I write about “Olympic” and Japanese gold medalist of Olympic. I hope that Japanese will win more gold medals of Olympic and World Championships!!

My 10th topic “Olympic” is over. And this is the end of my blog. I am happy if who read this blog have more interest in track and field!! Thank you for your reading!! good bye.

Week 9 "World Championships"

Hello, this is my blog’s ninth topic!! Last week I wrote about “Artificial Leg” through talking about Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius who is runner with artificial legs. I have used two weeks (Week 7 & week 8) to talk about some problems of track and field. Since today, dark topics is over, I’ll write about two gorgeous events that “The World Championships” and “The Olympics”. They are the biggest two events of track and field and all athletes aim at winning!! Today I write about former, “The World Championships”.

sorry I can't search good picture except Japanese...

First, do you know what is “The World Championships”? It is too big track and field event equal to Olympics. It held in odd-numbered years so before and after the Olympics. It means that there is a year with no track and field big event per four years, that year I feel very boring!! would You know what is The World Championships somehow? “The World Championships” is a very important event for runner. But, “The World Championships” is a popular name, it is not official name. The official name is “IAAF World Championships in Athletics”. IAAF is appeared in last week topic, it is international unify organization of track and field. IAAF holding event, official name has IAAF.

Second, when “The World Championships” started? Do you remember that I wrote in the first topic that track and field has too long history? Track and field has existed since the first Olympic in D.C 776. So you would think “The World Championships” also have long history, however, does not have. The first “The World Championships” was held in 1983 in Helsinki. It is very recent time!! The time when it began has something to do with why it began. It started as a substitute for Moscow Olympics that was boycotted by Western European countries (I don't write about the reason of boycott today). So if there wasn't the boycott, The World Championships isn't exist. Initially The World Championships had been held every four years, but since 1991 when it was held in Tokyo, has been held every two years. At the first time it was held in Europe many times but it is determined that it will be held alternately in Europe (the after year of Olympic) and in Asia (the before year of Olympic) by 2017. The number of countries participate in the event and world records that was born there is more than Olympics. The World Championships has short history, but it is the highest event of track and field.

The most popular world record that was born in “The World Championships” is 100m and 200m by Usain St. Leo Bolt at Berlin in 2009. These races were so amazing and exciting race!! My second topic is written about him and there is a video of the 100m race that he made the world record. If you have not watched or you forgot, please read it!!

Today I write about “IAAF World Championships in Athletics”. It will be held this year in Moscow. There was the Olympic in last year, so The World Championship will be held in Europe.
My 9th week’s topic “ The World Championships” is over. Next time, I’ll write about the other big event “Olympics” and be happy you read it. See you next time.

Week 8 "Artificial leg"

Hello, this is my blog’s eighth topic! Last week, I wrote about “Doping problem”. It is very serious problem for not only track and field but all sports. I also write one of the problems today. It is about “an artificial leg”. First of all, I want you see this video.

His name is “Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius”. Hi is a runner who has artificial legs. So he is called a “Blade Runner”. I’ll tell you about the problem of artificial legs through telling about him.
His best time
100m...10.91
200m...21.30
400m...45.07
He is Paralympic and Olympic athlete of Republic of South Africa. As you have seen, he has no legs!! He was only 11 months of age, being cut below the knee because he had no the shin bone since he was born. And his both feet became the artificial legs but his ability of exercise is very high. When he was a high school student, he belonged to rugby club. One day he injured his right knee when he practiced of rugby. And he started track and field as a part of rehabilitation. It is the fateful encounter with track and field. It was in April 2001. Only 8 months after the meeting, he entered Athens Paralympics. In the Paralympics, he was third in the 100m (11.16), he won the gold medal with a new world record in the 200m (21.97)!! I run 200m at 22.66, so he was faster than I even though he had not started track and field less than one year!! After the Paralympics, he aimed at participating the Beijing Olympic. However the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) decided that Pistorius didn’t have a qualification as to participate in the Olympics due to his artificial legs was thought that have some advantages. But he couldn’t consent to the decision so he filed to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) and he would be able to participate in the Olympics if he can run faster than standard record (400m: 45.30). And in July 2011 he ran 400m at his best time that 45.07, it had been decided to his competition in the London Olympic in 400m and 4*400mR. At the Olympic, he remained the semi-final in 400m and he ran the relay as an anchor. In the same year’s Paralympic he won the gold medal the both events.
He is a very nice sprinter but there is a big problem that whether the artificial legs have same advantage or not. First, the IAAF decided that he should not participate in the Olympics because IAAF thought it has. This is my opinion, I also think he should not participate in the Olympics because of the unfairness. Whether it has any advantage or not, that can’t measure I think. Because there are many point of views the advantageous or disadvantageous. But the artificial legs are not unfair at least. He is surely a top of athlete so I want him to compete in his field, Paralympics.

Today I write about artificial legs and Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius. He has no legs but he is a respectable runner!! I’ll tell you his word at lastYou're not disabled by the disabilities you have, you are able by the abilities you have

My 8th week’s topic “artificial legs” is over. Next time, I’ll write about “The World Championships” and be happy you read it. See you next time!!

Week 7 "Doping Problem"

Hello, this is my blog’s seventh topic! Last week, I wrote about “Combined event” one of the track and field events. I have written about all events of track and field between week2 and week5. So today and next week I’ll write about two problems in the track and field games. Today’s topic is “doping problem”. Of course you know the meaning of the word “doping”. It is a severe problem not only track and field but also all spots. So I want to tell you “What is doping?” “Why doping is bad?” “When doping starts?” or more.

First, the word of doping is where come from. The word “dope” was found in a dictionary for the first time is at 1889. At the time, the word means drugs given to the horse race. Originally, “dope” was a strong drink that is drunk at the festival in South Africa. The word refers to excitatory drink later.

Second, what is doping. You might know “doping” is to enhance the competitive ability of athlete by using something that have such effect. Using drugs to enhance one’s ability is contrary to medical ethics. In short, “doping” is to enhance the competitive ability illegally using drugs such as.

Third is why doping is bad. There are three reasons why doping is bad. It is against the sportsmanship, some health damaging effects of the drug and it is a social problem that is drug contamination. I specialize in track and field that is using only my body, so to enhance one’s body using drugs is not fair, I think.

History of doping is too long, the first record that using drugs to win the game was back to 1865. In 1886, Bicycle race between Bordeaux and Paris, one British player used some drugs, and he died. This is first report of death due to doping. In 1900~1950, Doping was spread to almost every supports events. Track and field is no exception. The introduction of doping test starts 1968. It says that who using some drugs could enter track and field game since 1968. So I think the world records established before 1968 might be due to drug. If it is true, it is sad. In1988, the biggest happening of track and field by doping was occured. The gold medalist of 100m in Seoul Olympic, “Benjamin Sinclair Ben Johnson” was caught in doping test and his gold medal was deprived. After that, there are many athletes who was deprived his or her medals due to doping, it is sad thing. If be elite athlete, I want to them believe there body not to depend on drugs. These problems that choosing such way to use drugs for the win, there are not suitable for spots.

Today I write about doping problem. I am runner who uses only my body, I strongly thought that.
My 7th week’s topic “doping problem” is over. Next time, I’ll write about “Artificial leg” and be happy you read it. See you next time!!

Week 6 "Combined event"

Hello, this is my blog’s sixth topic! Last week, I wrote about “Throws” one of the track and field events. Since today, I have written about four categories of track and field events, “Sprints and Hurdles”, “Mid- and Long- distances”, “Jumps” and “Throws”. Many players of track and field specialize in one of these categories so there is almost nothing who participates in games in the 100m and shot put or, in the 5000m and high jump.

But there is one event that players do ten events of all four categories in only two days!! All players run and jump and throw and run and… it is very exciting event!! The name is “Combined events”. Ten events that are included the event are “100m”, “Long jump”, “Shot put”, “High jump”, “400m” – these five events are held on the first day – “110mH”, “Discs throw”, “Pole jump”, Javelin throw” and “1500m” – these five events are held on next day – (It is Men’s order. Women’ order is different). How tough and hard event it is!! So the winner called “King of Athlete”.

Let’s see the amazing world records of “King of Athlete”.

Man

9039pt (Ashton Eaton : United States of America)

100m … 10.21s
Long … 8.23m
Shot … 14.20m
High … 2.05m
400m … 46.70s
110mH … 13.70s
Discs … 42.81m
Pole … 5.30m
Javelin … 58.87m
1500m … 4’14”18

Woman

8358pt (Austra Skuijyte : Lithuania)

100m … 12.49s
Discs … 46.19m
Pole … 3.10m
Javelin … 48.78m
400m … 57.19s
100mH … 14.22s
Long … 6.12m
Shot … 16.42m
High … 1.78m
1500m … 5’15”86

(Wikipedia)

Combined event is competed with the points. The points have been determined by the record of each events. The Man’s world record, 9039pt is how amazing can you imagine? The Japanese record is 8073pt. If Ashton Eaton wins 900 points per one event, Ashton can win the Japanese champion without running 1500m that is last event!! His greatness can express by other example. The world record 9039pt was born in June 2012, if he participated in Japan Champion Ship in the same year, he had become the top oh three events, “100m”, “Long jump”, and “110mH”. And more, he ran 400m as a last event of first day, but his time “46.70” is fourth time in the final of Japan Champion Ship in spite of he had done four events “100m”, “Long jump”, “Shot put” and “High jump” before “400m”!!

By the way, as mentioned early the Japanese record is 8073pt. Do you know this record was born in recent days? The record was made by Ushiro Keisuke in June 2012. It is same time with world record was born!! And he is first player who is over 8000pt as Japanese. Combined event is not very famous in Japan, I want you know there is Japanese who have grown to compete in the world.

Today I write about combined events. It is too exciting and hard event so that the winner called “King of Athlete”!!

My 6th week’s topic “combined events” is over. Next time, I’ll write about “Doping problems” and be happy you read it. See you next time!!

Week 5 "Throws"

Hello, this is my blog’s fifth topic! Last week, I wrote about “Jumps” one of the track and field events. Four categories of track and field I have written that require players “speed”. But today, I`ll write about “Throws” that are powerful events!! Players don’t run fast with their legs, players throw too heavy things with his arms!! Today also start by seeing the world recorders and their records.

Men
Shot...23m12(Randy Barnes : United States of America)
Discs...74m08(Jürgen Schult : East Germany)
Hummer...86m74(Youri Georgiyevich Sedykh : Soviet Union)
Javelin...98m48(Jan Zelezny : Czech Republic)

Women
Shot...22m63(Natalya Lisovskaya : Soviet Union)
Discs..76m80(Gabriele Reinsch : East Germany)
Hummer...89m42(Betty Heidler : Poland)
Javelin...72m28(Barbora Spotakova : Czech Republic)

Event … records (name : country)
(Wikipedia)

Can you understand what is “shot”, “discs”, “hummer” or “javelin”? Their official names are “shot put”, “discs throw”, “hummer throw” and “javelin throw”. seeing theirs name you have some strange sense. What is “shot put”? Why not “shot throw”? It is a reasonable question. Also, there is a reasonable reason for this question. I`ll write the weight which players throw later, used thing in shot put is so heavy that if they try to  “throw” as throwing some balls, for example used in baseball, they may break their shoulder!! So every player doesn’t “throw” but “put” out. It is decided by a competition rule.
Next, I want tell you how heavy thing they throw,

Men
Shot... 7.260kg
Discs…2kg
Hummer...7.260kg
Javelin...0.8kg

Women
Shot...4kg
Discs...1kg
Hummer...4kg
Javelin...0.6kg

Can you imagine how heavy they are? 7.260kg = 16pound. When you go to bowling, there are most heavy bowling-balls in all bowling alleys. It is 16 pound!! Imagine the 16 pound bowling-ball put on your one shoulder, and put out the ball with a little approach, and the ball flies about 20m or more. It is so amazing!!

By the way, there is a great Japanese player in throwing event. I think that you also know the name, Murofushi Kouji. He specializes in hammer throw and he have Japanese record of the event. He is often called “Tetsujin Murofushi”. It means iron man that is very strong man!! His official name is “Koji Alexander Murofushi”. His father is Murofushi Shigenobu who is previous Japanese record holder of hammer throw and his mother is Serafina Moritz who is the representative of Romania for the Olympics of javelin throw. And he have an little sister, Yuka Murofushi, who has Japanese record of discs throw. The blood as a throwing event player is flowing into his body!!

Since he has too much career and glories that I can’t write all here today. So I write three of them that are too excellent. First, his best record is 84m86 that is naturally Japanese record and fifth record in the world. Second, He won the Athens Olympics in 2004 and he became first Olympics gold medalist as an Asian in the throw event of the track and field. Third, he is continuing to win 18 times at a Japanese championship. Forth, fifth… there are really too much glories!! I think he is a pride of Japan.

Today I write about throw event and Murofushi Koji. He is a very great person!! It is happy that Japanese can win the gold medals at track and field!!

My 5th week’s topic “throws” is over. Next time, I’ll write about “Combined events” and be happy you read it. See you next time!!

Week4 "Jumps"

Hello, this is my blog’s forth topic! Last week, I wrote about “Mid - & Long - distance” one of the track and field event. I have written about track event for two weeks. Now, I’ll start to write about some field events! Today’s topic is “Jumps”! Today also start by seeing the world recorders and their records.

Men

Long...8m95(Michael Anthony "Mike" Powell : United States of America)

Triple...18m29(Sir Jonathan Edwards : Britain)

High...2m45(Javier Sotomayor Sanabria : Cuba)

Pole...6m14(Sergey Bubka : Ukraine)

Women

Long...7m52(Galina Chistyakova : Soviet Union)

Triple...15m50(Inessa Mykolajivna Kravets : Ukraine)

High...2m09(Stefka Kostadinova : Bulgaria)

Pole...5m09(Yelena Gadzhievna Isinbaeva : Russia)

event … time (name : country)

(Wikipedia)

Jumps one of the track and field events has only four events, Long, Triple, High and Pole jump. To divide roughly, Long and Triple jump are jumping for length while High and Pole jump are jumping for height. All for events are very interesting so that I want to explain about them all. But today I’ll write about only one event, High jump. The reason that I choose this event is High jump is famous and you probably know or do the events.

Do you know that there are various of ways to jumps? There are three mainly ways to jump. A scissors jump, a belly roll and a fosbury flop. A scissors jump is the way you may have learned in elementary school. A belly roll is the way you may have learned in high school. (I want to upload some video and I think it make you understand easier. But solly, I coudn't find out any usefull videos of a scissors jump and a belly roll.) A fosbury flop is the way almost all track and field player use.

A fosbury flop is interesting way to jump! Next, I’ll explain about the appearance and development of the way to jump. As mentioned earlier, almost all players use this way. The first man who use this strange way is Dfosbury(USA) so the way called a fosbury flop. At Mexico Olympic in 1968, he use this strange way that go over the bar on his back first and he could go over 2m24, and he won a gold medal. This fact appeals the way’s validity. Since then, there was some idea that the way is dangerous, but a fosbury flop has been spreaded in amazed speed. The background of a fosbury flop was born and developed, there is the spread of soft mat too. If the mat was hard, the idea of jumping toward the mat with head was never occur to!

By the way, how a fosbury flop was born? This way of jump was not contrived by a scholar or a well-known coach. It was made by chance! Fosbury practiced a belly roll same as other players but he could not master the way. Therefore he practiced a scissors jump that is elementary skill of high jump. While that, he inventioned the unique way, fosbury flop. It is an interesting success story that who couldn’t master a belly roll was become top of the world due to his fantastic way!

Today I write about Jumps especially High jump. Is it interesting the development of the strange way to go over the bar and its miraculous born?

My 4th week’s topic “Jumps” is over. Next time, I’ll write about “Throws” and be happy you read it. See you next time!
